NEmators from CHIJ St Joseph's Convent came
up tops with their clip, Just Because in N.E.mation!, an animation
competition for Total Defence 2007. |
|
Minister of State (Defence) Associate
Professor Koo Tsai Kee presented the prizes at this morning's ceremony
at the Anglo-Chinese Junior College. |
|
NEmators impressed the voters and
judges with a video clip that best articulates this year's Total
Defence theme of "confidence, commitment and cohesion". |
|
The team will be rewarded with a fully
sponsored visit to Studio Ghibli in Japan to learn more about
animation. The winning clip, together with selected clips from the
other finalists, will be screened island-wide on television
channels, TV Mobile and cinema screens from March 2007. |
|
The competition attracted a total of
124 entries by over 300 students. Ten finalist teams were selected
to undergo a two-week animation workshop to translate their
storyboards into animation clips. |
|
The winners of the competition were
then determined by points from a public voting system and a panel
of judges comprising industry professionals. Almost 30,000 votes
were received during the two-week online public voting which
started on 14 February 2007. |
|
Mr Eric Tan, Assistant Director,
Community & International Relations (Media Development Authority),
who was one of the judges said that "N.E.mation! is definitely a
great initiative using interactive and digital media to
communicate the importance of National Education, and at the same
time, involving the participation of Singaporeans - both in the
creation and voting of content - as part of a total national
effort. I was personally very heartened to see the high standards
of the clips, cleverly woven with ideas about Total Defence." |
