The Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA)
conceptualised the design and managed the development of the new
multi-purpose facility at the Marina Bay. The facility comprises a
seating gallery and a floating platform. |
|
When completed, the new floating platform is
likely to be the world's largest floating performance stage on water. |
|
DSTA worked closely with the Ministry of
Defence, Singapore Sports Council and Urban Redevelopment Authority to
conceptualise the innovative solution to address the need for a
temporary facility to hold mass spectators events over the next five
years in view of the expected demolition of the National Stadium. |

As the programme manager, DSTA also provided
its expertise in technology and systems integration to develop the
technical specifications to meet the unique needs of the various
government bodies, oversee the construction of the facility and conduct
load testing on the floating platform. |

The individual pontoons were constructed at the company¨s premises and
assembled to form the floating platform onsite.

The three linkways connect the platform to land to facilitate
vehicle/personnel movement onto and out of the platform speedily (lead
onto Raffles Avenue through the seating gallery) |
